Liverpool edged out Tottenham in there 17th-round EPL clash on December 20, 2025.

In the first half, Spurs were down to 10 men after Xavi Simons came flying in studs-up from behind on Van Dijks leg, without even pretending to go for the ball. The ref wasted no time showing the Dutchman a straight red. Still, chances were few and far between—the teams headed into halftime with the scoreboard stuck at zero’s.
But right out of the gates in the second half, Liverpool grabed the lead. A sharp press in Tottenham’s half payed off: Isak fed Ekitike, who spotted Wirtz wide open in space. Florian then slipped a clever ball forward to Isak, and the Swede rifled it home from the left past Vicario—1-0! Tragically, though, in that same sequence, he went down injured when Van de Ven slided in hard on Alexander, twisting his leg awkwardly.
Frimpong came on for Isak and wasted no time making an impact—just six minutes later, he set up Ekitike, who nodded it in from point-blank range with a header. Richarlison pulled one back for Spurs in a frantic attack on the 83rd minute, but Romero blowed it all in stoppage time by picking up his seccond yellow and getting sent off.
