Success in Europe was also a result of other than Kvaratskhelia
It is no secret that a year ago, the Georgian national team had an unexpected run at the Euro 2024. Georgia made it out of their group with Portugal, Turkey and Czech Republic and were just one win away from advancing further into the competition when they met the Portuguese and were able to get the win that they needed. Then there was a Round of 16 match-up between Georgia and Spain. Georgia took the lead in the game, but ultimately fell short with a loss of 4-1. Although Georgia lost their Round of 16 match-up with a much better team than themselves, they still exceeded everyone’s expectations and had a good showing in the Euro 2024. Therefore, how did the 2024/2025 club seasons go for many of those players who played for Georgia in the Euro 2024?
Giorgi Mamardashvili

The best goalkeeper of Euro 2024 in terms of saves. It is arguable whether or not Georgia would have even made it out of their group without such a solid goalkeeper as Mamardashvili. Following the Euro 2024, Mamardashvili signed a contract with Liverpool, however, he and the club agreed that Mamardashvili would remain at Valencia for one additional year. Mamardashvili’s statistics for the 2024/2025 season include 34 appearances for the club, 48 goals allowed, 8 shutouts and a total of 48 goals allowed in the 34 games. Valencia had a very difficult season and had fallen to the bottom of the standings by the end of 2024. However, the club was able to turn things around in the latter part of the season and improve enough to finish in 12th position in the standings. Giorgi Mamardashvili is currently in preseason training with Liverpool and has made his debut with the club in a friendly match against Preston.
Luka Lochoshvili
Lochoshvili began the 2024/2025 season with Cremonese in the Serie B. In January, Lochoshvili was loaned to Salernitana. While Lochoshvili was a regular player for Salernitana, the club could not avoid relegation to the third strongest division in Italian soccer. Meanwhile, Cremonese was able to advance through the playoffs and earn promotion to Serie A. However, Lochoshvili will be competing in the 2. Bundesliga in the 2025/2026 season. The Georgian was transferred to Nuremberg for $1 million.
Guram Kashia

At 38 years old, Kashia is the oldest player on this list. Kashia is the leading scorer for the Georgian National Team in terms of appearances with 124. At the Euro 2024, Kashia played in four games and wore the captains armband for each of them. Kashia has been representing Slovan Bratislava since 2021. This season, Kashia earned his first appearance in the main stage of the Champions League after previously only earning appearances in qualifying rounds. Kashia appeared in all eight league phase matches and started three of them wearing the captains armband. Kashia earned 46 appearances for Slovan during the 2024/2025 season and earned four goals.
Giorgi Kochorashvili
Kochorashvili is a holding midfielder and has spent the last several years playing in Spain. The youth team of Girona, Peralada, Castellón, Levante are all clubs in which Kochorashvili has competed in the past. During this transfer window, Kochorashvili switched teams and was promoted to the next tier. Prior to joining Sporting, Kochorashvili made a significant contribution to Levante’s return to La Liga. Kochorashvili earned 6 goals and 4 assists in 35 matches. Those are respectable numbers for a holding midfielder. Sporting noticed Kochorashvili and paid 5.5 million euros to acquire him. “As a child, I was never allowed to watch CL matches, because they were always too late. I dreamed about one day being able to compete in the CL, and now my dream is closer to coming true”, stated Giorgi regarding his move to Sporting.
Giorgi Chakvetadze

Prior to the Euro 2024, Chakvetadze moved from Gent to Watford in England. Watford purchased Chakvetadze’s rights for 2.5 million euros in early 2024. 41 matches, 2 goals, 7 assists—are the numbers for Chakvetadze for the Watford Championship club. Watford finished the season in 14th position in the standings, so Chakvetadze will face another fight for survival in the second-tier of English football. Chakvetadze’s contract will expire in 2029.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Antonio Conte, Napoli’s head coach, convinced Kvaratskhelia to remain in Southern Italy after the Euro 2024. However, it was only for six months. In early 2025, Kvaratskhelia moved to PSG. Kvaratskhelia won in both salary and in terms of championships. Kvaratskhelia won Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the Champions League. Everyone wishes to switch clubs like that. In 30 appearances for PSG, Kvaratskhelia earned 16 (8 + 8) goal contributions. On May 31, Kvaratskhelia scored a goal in the Champions League Final and helped PSG win the prestigious trophy at the age of 24. Additionally, Kvaratskhelia played for PSG in the battle for the Club World Cup in June and July, but in the final, the Parisians surprisingly lost to Chelsea (0:3).
