Dynamo U-19 faced Scottish Hibernian in the second match of the 3rd round of the Champions Path playoffs in the UEFA Youth League.

The first match between the youth teams of Dynamo and Hibernian ended with a minimal victory for the white-and-blues – 1:0. The Kyiv team was considered the favorite for the away encounter, despite the fact that the team was left by coach Ihor Kostyuk, who became the acting head of the club’s first team. Dynamo U-19 was headed by Pavlo Cherednychenko, who confidently won two matches at the helm of the “white-and-blues.”
However, Hibernian started the meeting actively and created dangerous attacks towards the guests’ goal. In the 7th minute, the Dynamo players created a decent attack – Rybak crossed from the flank, Ponomarenko did not reach the ball, however, Redushko managed to shoot without hitting the target. Soon after, the Scots made a mistake near their own goal, unsuccessfully clearing the ball. Lyusin intercepted the ball, but from a favorable position, he shot over the goal. In the 37th minute, Osypenko twisted several opponents on the flank and crossed into the area of the 11-meter mark, then Ponomarenko delivered a one-touch strike, but hit the post. At the end of the first half, Osypenko brought Lyusin one-on-one with the goalkeeper, however, a Hibernian defender averted the threat at the last moment. Shortly after the break, the Scots managed to score. Cleland won the aerial duel, and then broke through with the ball himself and shot from distance accurately into the corner of Dynamo’s goal. However, just three minutes later, the Kyiv players equalized the score – Osypenko picked up the ball near the penalty area, advanced forward, and delivered an accurate strike past the Hibernian goalkeeper. In the 75th minute, Osypenko passed to Redushko, who feinted past the defender and shot, but the ball flew close to the post due to a deflection. Then the Dynamo players took a corner, Ponomarenko attempted an overhead kick, however, the goalkeeper parried the shot from under the crossbar. In the end, the match ended in a draw, however, Dynamo achieved a 2:1 victory on aggregate over the two matches and advanced to the 1/16 final of the UEFA Youth League.
